About ACIL

This association brings together the leaders of criminal investigative and internal affairs units within the correctional discipline — to collaborate on best practices with each other, and with our industry partners.

Standardization and best practices. Knowledge sharing and training. Intelligence and threat coordination. Professional support and advocacy. ACIL exists so that the people responsible for investigations inside correctional systems are not working alone.

A standard of practice, held in common.

The mission of the Association of Correctional Investigative Leaders is to enhance the effectiveness, integrity, and professionalism of correctional investigators.

As leaders, we are committed to promoting best practices, providing educational opportunities, fostering interagency collaboration, and advancing ethical standards to ensure safety, accountability, and justice within the correctional environment.

We strive to support our members as they address complex challenges, uphold public trust, and protect the rights of all individuals within the correctional environment.
What We Do

Ten commitments that define the work.

Membership in ACIL is built around a shared body of practice — the disciplines that make correctional investigations consistent, defensible, and trusted across jurisdictions.
